Final question! Tag someone! And tell us what you like about that person as a writer and/or about one of his characters!
:T I’m not a fan of tagging anyone. But anyone who’s bored enough to do this daily thing, then by all means, go ahead~
This was fun. I liked sharing all my characters and such with you guys. I even found a few fellow writers through this challenge. c8
But… Oh man, what am I going to do with my tumblr life now that this challenge is done?
…
-searching for another one- 8T
We’ll see eventually. But I’ll give everyone a break since I was pretty punctual for the past 30 days. =v=
How often do you think about writing? Ever come across something IRL that reminds you of your story/characters?
Every waking moment of my life.
Okay, okay, no. That’s a little exaggerated. But I’d say about 70-80% of the time, I’m thinking about writing, my characters, the stories, etc. The remaining percent is whatever I have to focus on and such. =w=;;;
And yes, I always always ALWAYS come across stuff in real life that get the gears in my head turning.
Like… I watched X-men: First Class a little while ago, and in the end there was this line that Inception’d an idea into my head, and that idea exploded into all these “ffffff I need to write these out” stories. (The line was, “See, this is why women shouldn’t be in the CIA!” Psssssh.)
Other times I’ll just be walking around nonchalantly, and I’ll see something like a certain jacket and I’d think to myself, “Oooh~ -So and so character- would match in that. o w o” and then I’d store it away in my head and bring it up next time I find a way to write it into the story.
-Now I can’t look at tigers without thinking of Jiro.
-Horses are so much more cooler if they have markings reminiscent of Wesley or Travis’ forms.
-Any kind of mention of the CIA in a movie has me inwardly giggling like an idiot / taking notes for future reference.
-Just about any of those stylish, girly clothes I see on tumblr or IRL remind me of Mika.
-Flannels now only remind me of Cyril and Nobu.
-Just… just cats in general make me think of my bundle of kitty shape-shifters.
There’s so much more but right now, my mind is blank from the lack of a good-night’s sleep.
Have you ever written a character with physical or mental disabilities? Describe them, and if there’s nothing major to speak of, tell us a few smaller ones.
I’ve never had a character that was completely handicapped or things like that.
Though at some point, Mika could only walk around if she had a crutch. She got shot in the leg and it took her a couple of years to be able to walk around normally again without the crutch. She still has phantom pains every now and then.
To a smaller extent, there’s also Wesley and his brother Travis, now. Wesley got his wrist injured in a fight and walks with a limp when he’s in his animal form. Recently he got stabbed in the calf, so that’s going to impair his movement even more. Travis was unfortunate to have Shisu throw a knife at him- Travis can’t see out of one eye anymore.
It’s not really a mental disability, but it can be a big hindrance at times; Jiro suffers from extensive bloodlust. His sadism comes from that, as well. He’s failed a few assignments because the urge to rip apart enemies resulted in killing targets that were supposed to be interrogated. It completely takes over his rational side at times, and he’s had a few cases where he almost died because he wasn’t thinking things through and because he wasn’t aware of the injuries he took.
That’s the most I can think of off the top of my head, so far. There might be one or two more, but for now I’m drawing a blank card.
Along similar lines, do appearances play a big role in your stories? Tell us about them, or if not, how you go about designing your characters.
Nnnnot really.
Err, except Shisu and Jiro, really. Shi looks so much like Jiro that he can’t stand to look at his own reflection anymore. Their similarity almost got Shi killed, too, since Jiro made his appearance in the dark with a gun pointed at Shi’s lover, Teal. She thought he had betrayed her, and she’s quite the vengeful type..
Jiro even taunts Teal before his death, saying that the physical mark he left on the world won’t vanish until Shisu and his grandson die. (Jiro’s grandson has light stripes and a piebald coat w/ the anatomy of a tiger, which Jiro is..)
So in their story, yeah.
Not so much with everyone else. .-.
How I go about designing my characters… Yeah. |D That’s probably the most difficult process. I always leave their designs vague for the longest time, I swear. Nobu’s appearance is still vague in my head (sadly enough~!) It’s just… I don’t know. I have difficulty sometimes. I mean with Shisu, Mika and Jiro, that was cakewalk because they’re all related and I’ve always had Shisu’s design.
Some of my characters don’t even have a set-in-stone appearance yet… Like Cheryl, despite how developed she is. I only have her as a brunette and rather tall. |D Nothing more… And Lenard is only described as hulking tall, well over 6 ft. [With a bit of a Southern drawl.] .. Poor Nobu, too. I only have him at around 5’7” ish and Okinawan. |D I need to think up a design for him, soon…
…
-procrastinates-
Let’s talk art! Do you draw your characters? Do others draw them? Pick one of your OCs and post your favorite picture of him!
… oh geezus.
Yes, I do draw them from time to time, but I’m not a very good artist and I’m still practicing how to draw humans [decently]..
And I’ve gotten one or two pieces of fanart, but blah. xD
… Bah, I suppose I can share that one picture I recently drew of Mika… It turned out pretty decently, seeing that I didn’t use a reference like I always need to…

.. Drew that because, you know. Obon and such? Cat next to her is her shape-shifter grandmother, Yoko.
Mmyup. Enjoy my blah art. |D .. Anatomically incorrect feet are anatomically incorrect.
Do any of your characters have pets? Tell us about them.
… I honestly had to think for a second. I’m surprised I forgot about Buck, Bobo and Pepper as quickly as I did. |D
So there’s a family of four; James, Carrie, Robin and Kelly. At some point, near Robin and Kelly’s graduation from high school, the parents decided they didn’t want a nest that was completely empty. So they got Bobo and Pepper.
If I remember correctly, Bobo is a… Jack Russell terrier. If I’m wrong, then oh well! Bobo is now a JR Terrier! >:U I’m the writer and my word is law! … If anything he can be a mix. Bobo’s kinda the “slow” dog that everyone meets at some point in their life.
Pepper is a type of Spaniel- I always pictured a Cavalier King Charles, but with shorter fur than the usual. Maybe she just gets a hair cut so that it’s easier to keep her clean. Or maybe she’s mixed with another dog breed. Pepper is the princess of the house.
Later on, I’d imagine Carrie picked up a Chihuahua off the streets and named him Buck. He’s just your standard, tan Taco Dog. His personality is pretty easy to guess- the “thinks he’s high and mighty” type. Carrie eventually gave Buck to Kelly because, 1. Buck doesn’t get along well with Pepper. (And Bobo, but he’s too stupid to really care.) and 2. Kelly’s love interest is particularly fond of Buck. Baha.
… I know this probably doesn’t count, but Mika plays Nintendogs so in a way, she has a couple of pets? xD She owns a Corgi named Mochi and a Shiba Inu named Gohan. :B
How willing are you to kill your characters if the plot so demands it? What’s the most interesting way you’ve killed someone?
:D …
I’ve killed off a few characters here and there. And what sucks it that I usually become attached to them later on- like Yoko and Nobu. ;n;
And then I just recently killed off Jiro. That was fun. =v= .. Because he’s an antagonist, I’m not exactly sad that he was killed off, even if he’s one of my favorite characters. He had it coming anyway. Not to mention he was getting old.
As for interesting ways? … I’m not too sure. Yoko and her husband both died of old age (the former more than a decade after the latter.) and then there’s Nobu, who was murdered by Jiro.
Jiro died years after that. By that point he was a wanted man. He got shot in the shoulder but fled the scene, though he almost bled out by that point since he rendezvoused in a forest with his ally..figure. Woman. I don’t know what to call her. But yeah, the good guys found them after a search, Jiro and his ally fled again, got into the get-away car and from there, it got pushed over the edge of a cliff. Baha. Even if he survived the fall, he’d have more injuries and just bleed to death faster.
…
Oh! Then there’s Zane- I almost forgot about him. Yeah. He got impaled. By an elk shape-shifter’s antlers. Kinda glad we killed him off because he had little to no character, really. |D
.. I’ll admit, though, I’m still pretty scared about killing off someone more main like Shisu or Mika. ;3; My babies!
How long does it usually take you to complete an entire story—from planning to writing to posting (if you post your work)?
….
To be honest I’ve only ever completed short oneshots and that overly-long monologue about Cyril. The rest are drabbles and such.. Though I do have like.. three different oneshots going on right now, but they’re not finished. I kinda keep hopping back and forth between the three of them.
Of course most of my planning is done while I’m driving. Though sometimes, when I have free time or having a slow day, I’ll just sit around and try to figure out a general outline that my characters can move to. Though usually I just vividly imagine what’s going to happen- sometimes I never do write it out. Sometimes I just wait and see if the idea sticks around, or if it’s good enough, and then I start typing. But I write a bunch of drabbles for a reason; I’m not very good at endings, and short little things like drabbles can pretty much be cut off and/or clipped, to a certain extent.
Long story short; it takes a really long time.
Tell us about one scene between your characters that you’ve never written or told anyone about before! Serious or not.
……… -pokerface-
… So I have two characters that are apart of a three-man team in the CIA. I’ve always had the mental image that, when they need to capture a woman in order to extract information or whatever, they’d send Jiro because he’s a total ladies man. And because Nobu isn’t into things like one night stands. I could always imagine that Jiro finally meets his match and like.. I dunno, gets handcuffed to the bed frame (or that backboard thing.) or something. Though being the badass he is I can also imagine him kicking her right in the head and knocking her out for a bit.. Anyway, after that Jiro manages to get a hold of his partners and Nobu walks in with, you know, his partner handcuffed to the bed and just. Awkward turtle.
Why am I even sharing this with you guys. OTL
Also, several hours late because I was at a sleep over~ I normally do this in the morning but for day 22 it’s at night, la.
Do any of your characters have children? How well do you write them?
Some of my characters have grand-children. .. Though, then again, said grand-children were made first, then the grandparents themselves were made afterwards.. So that might not count, huh?
Well Shisu has a child- a son, though I don’t play as him. Or not directly, anyway. But I do pretty good for the most part in predicting his movements and reactions. =w= .. I love their father-son relationship. It gives me cavities.
Mika’s going to have a son eventually, too. His name is Noboru, and I have absolutely no idea what he’s going to look like or what his personality is. =w= .. But I still have time. Mika’s still young, plus her and Cyril aren’t together yet…
Kelly’s going to have twins in a bit, though I’m not sure if I’ll be playing as one or the other.. .-.
Then Kelly’s niece, Bree, is going to show up soon, too…
Hopefully I can find a way to get Tristan to show up. Sid, too…
Now that I think about it, aside from drabbles of Shi when he’s younger, I’ve never really written out any children. xD .. Though I will be eventually, so I’ll be looking forward to that~
